Frequently
Asked Questions

  • What is a denture?
A denture is defined as a removable plate or frame holding one or more artificial teeth. As a denture clinic we differ from a dentist in that we only deal with dentures. We are not able to remove teeth or deal with any surgical procedures needed. However, once teeth have been removed we can make dentures based on our clients needs.
  • Do I need a referral from the dentist first, or can I just visit Janud Denture Clinic?"
You can definitely visit us first and do not need a referral. In some cases, a dentist may need to complete a procedure first before dentures can be fitted.
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
We offer a range of payment methods. We accept all major credit cards, cash, pensioner denture schemes and DVA clients. Furthermore we are also a Medibank members choice provider.
  • How frequently should I have my dentures checked?
With age, the fitting of a denture can change over time. As such, it is possible that after a few years it may become a bit loose or cause some irritation. However, if that is the case, you can visit us at our clinic and we can adjust it so you feel comfortable with it.
  • What is a Dental Prosthetist?
A dental prosthetist is a dental practitioner registered with the dental board of Australia. They specialise in making and servicing dentures.
  • Where are my dentures made?
From the first consultation to the making and adjusting, through to the final fitting, everything happens at our clinic in Darlington. Unlike some practices, we do not send your dentures overseas and do everything in-house.
  • Do I need to clean my dentures?
It is important to treat your dentures as you would treat your natural teeth. They must be kept as clean as possible to prevent inflamed gums, bacterial and fungal infections or further tooth loss. We recommend that you clean your dentures as you would your natural teeth, twice a day, and after eating when necessary. Always remove your denture before cleaning.
